Namaste.
I am extremely grateful to my beloved father who moved on from his last Janma in Jan 2008. It was he who taught me to live like a courageous and principled man. He introduced me to the SBG and other Dharmic scriptures when I was a little boy. Ever since the beginning, whenever he taught me anything about spirituality, he made sure to cut all the irrational stuff out and explain things to me in a rational, scientific and logical manner. He narrated to me life stories about great men and women of the past. One important attitude that saved my life in my worst accidents was that of fearlessness that he instilled in me since the age of two or three. I call it the ‘What next’ attitude. Whatever happens in life, just ask yourself ‘What next?’ or ‘Now that this has happened, what do I do next?’ The most common causes of death of people who die in serious accidents are shock and fear and the one who maintains a level head becomes a true survivor.
A person who has read and understood even a bit of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita, which is the greatest mind management manual, has a stable mind, is always calm, balanced and composed. Such a person is called a ‘Sthithapragnya’. SBG 2:54-57.

Jai Shri Krishna.
The Verse no. 13 from the 8th Dashakam of Narayaneeyam which was composed by Sri Melpathur Narayana Bhattathiri in the 16th Century CE, is a summary of the entire Bhaagavatpurana – भागवतपुराण.
This Shloka has been personally recommended by the Sage of Kanchi (Kanchi Mahaperiyava) Mahaswamy Shri Chandrashekharendra Saraswati, for people afflicted with serious diseases, particularly cancer.
The NARAYANEEYAM consists of 100 Dashakams containing 10 Shlokas or verses each.
This particular Shloka, which is the 13th one from Dashakam 8 is a supplication to the Supreme Being for relief from illness.
I have taught this Mantra to some people who were afflicted with life-threatening illnesses and they have seen miraculous results. What is most important is to have absolute faith along with offering complete Sharanaagati before the Supreme Bhagavan Krishna.
May you and your loved ones be blessed with excellent health.
Jai Shri Krishna

* This Dashakam is to be chanted by the person who is afflicted by disease because it says ‘You may remove all MY afflictions’. However, if you wish to pray for a family member or for someone close to you, you could chant the Dhanvantari Mantra, which is a Mantra requesting Bhagavan Dhanvantari for a ring of protection for the entire family or group of people.
Challenging situations occur all of a sudden in life. They appear without any warnings at all. Never forget that anything can happen to anyone any time. That is the truth of life. What is most important is the way one approaches, studies, handles and solves a problem for which, the first and foremost requirement is a calm mind. Whatever we perceive through our senses is processed in the mind and therefore all that begins, exists and ends, are in the mind. Consciousness is the only reality. The lack of basic spiritual knowledge and understanding of the Self and the mind, lead to fear, hatred, anger, jealousy and sadness. The Srimad Bhagavad Gita is one of the greatest gifts to mankind. It teaches its reader the most important skill of mastering one’s own mind and helps them deftly handle even the most difficult of situations, live a healthy, peaceful and prosperous life, and achieve great Karmic progress.
Reading and understanding the life-changing Divine Scripture The Srimad Bhagavad Gita have been made easier through this audiobook, EBook and paperback.

The slokam is a prayer to the Lord Guruvayuppan. Roughly translated it means:
Oh Lord Vishnu, enshrined in Guruvayur ! Oh Great Soul ! Oh The Lord of Eternal Glory, who thus awakened Brahma in Paadmakalpa ! May Thou remove all my afflictions.
Asmin Paraathman Sloka Lyrics In Tamil Telugu
The people of Kerala worship Krishna in His deity form as Guruvayurappan in the temple town of Guruvayur. According to local legends, Bhattathiri had a Guru by the name of Achyuta Push at at I, who fell victim to a severe attack of paralysis, and suffered unbearable pain. Bhattathiri desired to find a cure for his master and fervently prayed for the disease to be transferred to himself, freeing his Guru from suffering. According to the legend, Lord Krishna granted Bhattathiri his wish, and he soon became crippled.
Once, when Bhattathiri, unable to move, was carried into the Guruvayur temple, he met Tunchath Ezhuthachan, an eminentMalayalam poet of the time. Ezhuthachan advised Bhattathiri that he could be cured if he “began his treatment with fish”. The disciples of Bhattathiri who heard this were shocked because Bhattathiri was a devout Hindu and therefore a vegetarian who would consider it sinful to eat fish. Bhattathiri however understood what Ezhuthachan really meant – that he would be cured if he could compose a hymn glorifying the incarnations of Lord Krishna beginning with the fish incarnation, known as Matsya.

Accordingly, he started composing the Narayaniyam. It is said that he would recite one dasakam, consisting of ten verses, every day. The local legend says that on the hundredth day he had a vision of the Lord, and rendered a graphic description of this form, after which he was immediately cured of his disease.
